I had that feeling that I wasn\u2019t really where I was meant to be and there must be something more I was meant to do with my life.&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;So, I did what we all do from time to time and scoured the internet for some self-help inspiration!&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;I found it in Paul McKenna\u2019s book &lt;em&gt;\u201cChange Your Life in 7 Days\u201d&lt;\/em&gt; and that was my first introduction to \u201cpossibility questions\u201d, reframing and hypnosis and how it can help you follow you dreams!&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;When I really, truthfully thought about what I would do if I knew I couldn\u2019t fail, I realised I was just existing and going through the motions of life not living the life I really wanted and not doing what I really wanted to do.&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;Now, while I didn\u2019t exactly change my life in 7 days at the time, when I look back now, I can see how much it absolutely sparked my interest in the power of the mind and how to programme it for success and how that has influenced the eventual direction I took in my career.&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;Little did I know back then that I\u2019d be using \u201cpossibility questions\u201d, hypnosis and reframing as tools and techniques in my own coaching business to help my clients manage their mindset, emotions, energy and impact, so they can take back control of their lives and follow their dreams too.&lt;\/p&gt;&quot;,&quot;tablet&quot;:&quot;&lt;p&gt;Determining what our purpose is in life can be one of the hardest quests that we as humans&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;ever go on. I find these 3 simple steps useful to start exploring your feelings, thoughts and&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;what&#039;s important to you which will help get you moving in a meaningful direction.&lt;\/p&gt;\n\n&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;STEP 1 - &lt;\/strong&gt;&lt;strong&gt;UNDERSTAND THE PRINCIPLE OF CHOICE&lt;\/strong&gt;&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;&lt;em&gt;\u201cThe greatest power we have is the power of choice. It is an actual fact, that if you have been&lt;\/em&gt;&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;&lt;em&gt; groping under unhappiness, you can choose to be joyous, instead. And, by effort, lift yourself&lt;\/em&gt;&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;&lt;em&gt; into joy. If you tend to be fearful, you can overcome that misery by choosing to have &lt;\/em&gt;&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;&lt;em&gt;courage. The whole trend and the quality of anyone\u2019s life is determined by the choices &lt;\/em&gt;&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;&lt;em&gt;that are made\u201d. Norman Vincent Peale&lt;\/em&gt;&lt;\/p&gt;\n\n&lt;p&gt;\u201cChoosing\u201d is the most important activity of your mind, because by making a choice, you are&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;proclaiming your desires to your subconscious mind. Once the subconscious mind gets to&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;know your desires, it is going to do anything to manifest them in your life. The choices you&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;make in your life become your goal. And, if you are determined in pursuing them, there is no&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;reason why you shouldn&#039;t achieve them.&lt;\/p&gt;\n\n&lt;p&gt;By contrast, indecision, not only creates frustration and anxiety, but can also confuse&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;the subconscious mind about what you want. It is important though, that the choices you&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;make are made by you, in alignment with your true desires, values  and natural abilities. A lot&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;of us let others make choices for us, or make our choices according to what we think we&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;\u2018should do\u2019, even if that means that we go against our wishes and sometimes our values.&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;What is right for someone else may not be right for you, and the way to know this is by&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;absolutely listening to what your heart and soul says.&lt;\/p&gt;\n\n&lt;p&gt;So, to begin with, make a list of things which interest you; things which you have always&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;enjoyed, which make you feel better, which inspire you to surge ahead, no matter what&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;obstacles you face. Do you like doing something creative, or something artistic? Do you&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;enjoy nature? Do you like the sea? Do you enjoy helping others? Do you get pleasure out of&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;making a difference in other people\u2019s life?&lt;\/p&gt;\n\n&lt;p&gt;Whatever it is that interests you, write it down and answer these questions:&lt;\/p&gt;\n\n&lt;ul&gt;\n&lt;li&gt;What thing do you love to do?&lt;\/li&gt;\n&lt;\/ul&gt;\n&lt;ul&gt;\n&lt;li&gt;What is it that you love in this thing and why?&lt;\/li&gt;\n&lt;\/ul&gt;\n&lt;ul&gt;\n&lt;li&gt;How could you do this for money, and make a living out of it?&lt;\/li&gt;\n&lt;\/ul&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;STEP 2 - CREATE YOUR UNDERLYING PRINCIPLE&lt;\/strong&gt;&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;The next step is to examine the list you just made and find out if there is any recurring&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;theme. Maybe, it&#039;s making a contribution that keeps coming up, or there&#039;s a creative and arts&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;theme? Perhaps it&#039;s all about family or wanting to change the world and be an activist&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;making a difference. Whatever it is, try to identify the central theme of the things you love&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;to do, and try to put it in a short and precise statement. This will be your \u2018Mission&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;Statement\u2019. It may even be a quote by a famous person, or a philosophy that has influenced&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;you. Of course, this statement could evolve over time, but its likely its heart and soul will&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;remain the same. Now, write down your Mission Statement.&lt;\/p&gt;\n\n&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;STEP 3 - ALIGN YOUR LIFE WITH YOUR UNDERLYING PRINCIPLE &lt;\/strong&gt;&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;The final step is to think about how you can begin to align your daily life with your&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;underlying purpose and build in time to make some changes and do some of the activities&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;that you&#039;re passionate about, that interest you and bring you joy and satisfaction.  By&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;making these little changes in your lifestyle, you will start to be able to begin living this&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;principle out each and every day. It might take a few days, but by becoming aware and&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;intentional of this underlying principle of your life, you will certainly start to feel the&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;difference in your enthusiasm for life as a whole. If you realize that you love being out in&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;nature, get out more or take up a hobby to get you out more - much like I did with&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;paddleboarding recently!  If you discover that you enjoy helping those in need, start to look&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;for opportunities to volunteer in your community. There is nothing better than focusing on&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;being of service to others to help you feel happier and better about yourself. On the other&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;hand, you might even want to change your job, or start a new business that is more in line&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;with your mission. Now that would be exciting, wouldn&#039;t it? I find these 3 simple steps useful to start exploring your feelings, thoughts and&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;what&#8217;s important to you which will help get you moving in a meaningful direction.&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;&nbsp;&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;STEP 1 &#8211; &lt;\/strong&gt;&lt;strong&gt;UNDERSTAND THE PRINCIPLE OF CHOICE&lt;\/strong&gt;&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;&lt;em&gt;\u201cThe greatest power we have is the power of choice. It is an actual fact, that if you have been&lt;\/em&gt;&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;&lt;em&gt; groping under unhappiness, you can choose to be joyous, instead. And, by effort, lift yourself&lt;\/em&gt;&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;&lt;em&gt; into joy. If you tend to be fearful, you can overcome that misery by choosing to have &lt;\/em&gt;&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;&lt;em&gt;courage. The whole trend and the quality of anyone\u2019s life is determined by the choices &lt;\/em&gt;&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;&lt;em&gt;that are made\u201d. Norman Vincent Peale&lt;\/em&gt;&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;&nbsp;&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;\u201cChoosing\u201d is the most important activity of your mind, because by making a choice, you are&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;proclaiming your desires to your subconscious mind. Once the subconscious mind gets to&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;know your desires, it is going to do anything to manifest them in your life. The choices you&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;make in your life become your goal. And, if you are determined in pursuing them, there is no&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;reason why you shouldn&#8217;t achieve them.&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;&nbsp;&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;By contrast, indecision, not only creates frustration and anxiety, but can also confuse&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;the subconscious mind about what you want. It is important though, that the choices you&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;make are made by you, in alignment with your true desires, values\u00a0 and natural abilities. A lot&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;of us let others make choices for us, or make our choices according to what we think we&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;\u2018should do\u2019, even if that means that we go against our wishes and sometimes our values.&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;What is right for someone else may not be right for you, and the way to know this is by&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;absolutely listening to what your heart and soul says.&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;&nbsp;&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;So, to begin with, make a list of things which interest you; things which you have always&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;enjoyed, which make you feel better, which inspire you to surge ahead, no matter what&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;obstacles you face. Do you like doing something creative, or something artistic? Do you&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;enjoy nature? Do you like the sea? Do you enjoy helping others? Do you get pleasure out of&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;making a difference in other people\u2019s life?&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;&nbsp;&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;Whatever it is that interests you, write it down and answer these questions:&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;&nbsp;&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;ul&gt;\n&lt;li&gt;What thing do you love to do?&lt;\/li&gt;\n&lt;\/ul&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;&nbsp;&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;ul&gt;\n&lt;li&gt;What is it that you love in this thing and why?&lt;\/li&gt;\n&lt;\/ul&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;&nbsp;&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;ul&gt;\n&lt;li&gt;How could you do this for money, and make a living out of it?&lt;\/li&gt;\n&lt;\/ul&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;&nbsp;&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;STEP 2 &#8211; CREATE YOUR UNDERLYING PRINCIPLE&lt;\/strong&gt;&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;The next step is to examine the list you just made and find out if there is any recurring&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;theme. Maybe, it&#8217;s making a contribution that keeps coming up, or there&#8217;s a creative and arts&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;theme? Perhaps it&#8217;s all about family or wanting to change the world and be an activist&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;making a difference. Whatever it is, try to identify the central theme of the things you love&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;to do, and try to put it in a short and precise statement. This will be your \u2018Mission&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;Statement\u2019. It may even be a quote by a famous person, or a philosophy that has influenced&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;you. Of course, this statement could evolve over time, but its likely its heart and soul will&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;remain the same. Now, write down your Mission Statement.&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;&nbsp;&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;STEP 3 &#8211; ALIGN YOUR LIFE WITH YOUR UNDERLYING PRINCIPLE\u00a0&lt;\/strong&gt;&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;The final step is to think about how you can begin to align your daily life with your&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;underlying purpose and build in time to make some changes and do some of the activities&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;that you&#8217;re passionate about, that interest you and bring you joy and satisfaction.\u00a0 By&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;making these little changes in your lifestyle, you will start to be able to begin living this&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;principle out each and every day. It might take a few days, but by becoming aware and&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;intentional of this underlying principle of your life, you will certainly start to feel the&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;difference in your enthusiasm for life as a whole. If you realize that you love being out in&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;nature, get out more or take up a hobby to get you out more &#8211; much like I did with&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;paddleboarding recently!\u00a0 If you discover that you enjoy helping those in need, start to look&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;for opportunities to volunteer in your community. There is nothing better than focusing on&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;being of service to others to help you feel happier and better about yourself. On the other&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;hand, you might even want to change your job, or start a new business that is more in line&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;with your mission. Now that would be exciting, wouldn&#8217;t it? I find these 3 simple steps useful to start exploring your feelings, thoughts and&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;what&#039;s important to you which will help get you moving in a meaningful direction.&lt;\/p&gt;\n\n&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;STEP 1 - &lt;\/strong&gt;&lt;strong&gt;UNDERSTAND THE PRINCIPLE OF CHOICE&lt;\/strong&gt;&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;&lt;em&gt;\u201cThe greatest power we have is the power of choice. It is an actual fact, that if you have been&lt;\/em&gt;&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;&lt;em&gt; groping under unhappiness, you can choose to be joyous, instead. And, by effort, lift yourself&lt;\/em&gt;&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;&lt;em&gt; into joy. If you tend to be fearful, you can overcome that misery by choosing to have &lt;\/em&gt;&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;&lt;em&gt;courage. The whole trend and the quality of anyone\u2019s life is determined by the choices &lt;\/em&gt;&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;&lt;em&gt;that are made\u201d. It is important though, that the choices you&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;make are made by you, in alignment with your true desires, values  and natural abilities. A lot&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;of us let others make choices for us, or make our choices according to what we think we&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;\u2018should do\u2019, even if that means that we go against our wishes and sometimes our values.&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;What is right for someone else may not be right for you, and the way to know this is by&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;absolutely listening to what your heart and soul says.&lt;\/p&gt;\n\n&lt;p&gt;So, to begin with, make a list of things which interest you; things which you have always&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;enjoyed, which make you feel better, which inspire you to surge ahead, no matter what&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;obstacles you face. Do you like doing something creative, or something artistic? Do you&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;enjoy nature? Do you like the sea? Do you enjoy helping others? Do you get pleasure out of&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;making a difference in other people\u2019s life?&lt;\/p&gt;\n\n&lt;p&gt;Whatever it is that interests you, write it down and answer these questions:&lt;\/p&gt;\n\n&lt;ul&gt;\n&lt;li&gt;What thing do you love to do?&lt;\/li&gt;\n&lt;\/ul&gt;\n&lt;ul&gt;\n&lt;li&gt;What is it that you love in this thing and why?&lt;\/li&gt;\n&lt;\/ul&gt;\n&lt;ul&gt;\n&lt;li&gt;How could you do this for money, and make a living out of it?&lt;\/li&gt;\n&lt;\/ul&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;STEP 2 - CREATE YOUR UNDERLYING PRINCIPLE&lt;\/strong&gt;&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;The next step is to examine the list you just made and find out if there is any recurring&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;theme. Maybe, it&#039;s making a contribution that keeps coming up, or there&#039;s a creative and arts&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;theme? Perhaps it&#039;s all about family or wanting to change the world and be an activist&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;making a difference. Whatever it is, try to identify the central theme of the things you love&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;to do, and try to put it in a short and precise statement. This will be your \u2018Mission&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;Statement\u2019. It may even be a quote by a famous person, or a philosophy that has influenced&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;you. Of course, this statement could evolve over time, but its likely its heart and soul will&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;remain the same. Now, write down your Mission Statement.&lt;\/p&gt;\n\n&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;STEP 3 - ALIGN YOUR LIFE WITH YOUR UNDERLYING PRINCIPLE &lt;\/strong&gt;&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;The final step is to think about how you can begin to align your daily life with your&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;underlying purpose and build in time to make some changes and do some of the activities&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;that you&#039;re passionate about, that interest you and bring you joy and satisfaction.  By&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;making these little changes in your lifestyle, you will start to be able to begin living this&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;principle out each and every day. It might take a few days, but by becoming aware and&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;intentional of this underlying principle of your life, you will certainly start to feel the&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;difference in your enthusiasm for life as a whole. If you realize that you love being out in&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;nature, get out more or take up a hobby to get you out more - much like I did with&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;paddleboarding recently!  If you discover that you enjoy helping those in need, start to look&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;for opportunities to volunteer in your community. There is nothing better than focusing on&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;being of service to others to help you feel happier and better about yourself. On the other&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;hand, you might even want to change your job, or start a new business that is more in line&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;with your mission. Now that would be exciting, wouldn&#039;t it? <p>Aspire is a female leadership development organisation led by Dr. Sam Collins and she was one of the first of many inspirational women who inspired and empowered me to start my solopreneur journey to do my bit to make a difference to women’s lives for the better.</p>
<p>I was looking forward to the webinar and it didn’t disappoint. It was a real privilege to have listened to these inspirational stories from courageous, soul-led, passion-filled, purpose-driven women, who have followed their soul callings against all odds and in the face of adversity and danger.</p>

We are wired to focus more on the negative than the positive, something called \u201cnegativity bias\u201d which is our brain\u2019s primitive survival mechanism to keep us alive.&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;How does this show up for us?&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;Dr. Rick Hansen explains it well in his book \u201cHardwiring Happiness\u201d:&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;\u201cthe default setting of the brain is to overestimate threats, underestimate opportunities, and underestimate resources both for coping with threats and for fulfilling opportunities.\u201d&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;AKA:&lt;br \/&gt;FEAR, ANXIETY, SELF-DOUBT, LACK OF SELF-BELIEF AND FAITH IN YOUR SKILLS &amp; STRENGTHS = IMPOSTER SYNDROME = MISSED OPPORTUNITIES = UNFULFILLED POTENTIAL! \ud83d\ude1e&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;There is growing evidence that our perceptions of ourselves and our abilities have a massive impact on whether we achieve our aspirations and succeed in our careers.&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;\ud83d\udca5BELIEVING IN YOURSELF IS KEY TO YOUR SUCCESS\ud83d\udca5&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;Here\u2019s my 3 top tips to make a start and #BreakTheBias you have unconsciously against yourself:&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;\u2728When a negative thought or doubt creeps in, notice it and realise it\u2019s your primitive brain protecting you. Get it out of your head, write it down, reframe and counter it with at least 3 more supportive thoughts to outweigh the negative.\u2696\ufe0f&lt;\/p&gt;\n&lt;p&gt;\u2728Make a list of everything that you\u2019re proud of yourself for doing or accomplishing in your life, whether it\u2019s overcoming a challenge or adversity or something you did really well. Really tune into that sense and feeling of pride. <p>It’s a good day to remind ourselves to #BreakTheBias we all still face on the road towards equity in our careers and lives, especially the unconscious bias we hold against ourselves.</p>

<p>Most of the time this inner critic isn’t even ours, it comes from the messages, stories and beliefs about ourselves that were formed in our early childhood when we were growing up, especially if we had a challenging childhood, or a dysfunctional family, or experienced bullying, trauma and anxiety provoking events and situations.</p>
