About Cathy Regan
I was in my forties when I discovered the power and significance of the personal image and brand and the impact it has on career success. Like most people I believed that if you worked hard and had all the right qualifications and experience, you’d get the recognition and promotion you deserved. Up to a certain level, that’s the case but when it comes to getting more senior roles at executive level, the competition is fierce. This is when you need something more – you need presence, impact and a personal brand that is unique to you, helping you stand out from the crowd.
My outlook started to change
My lightbulb moment occurred when after 20 years’ experience, I was looking to progress to Director level in the NHS. I was fortunate to have benefited from both undergraduate and postgraduate education and significant personal and professional development and yet I still struggled to get the promotion I wanted.
I almost resigned myself to the fact that I’d reached that “glass ceiling” but decided to take the opportunity of seeing a personal development coach and at the same time attended a leadership development programme specifically for women.
The coaching helped me challenge myself and my limiting beliefs and the leadership development programme focused on impression management and strategies to raise your profile and visibility for career success. This was when I realised that my academic qualifications, technical skills and professional experience were not enough. I began to understand that to achieve the career you really want, you have to consider yourself as a whole package.
Less than 6 months after completing the coaching programmes I was promoted to my first role as a Director!
The power of discovery
I realised that as women we shy away from putting ourselves out there in the workplace, afraid to be perceived as ambitious or pushy, presenting ourselves as less than we are. I discovered that success is defined by the power of image, brand and how we communicate.
I knew I could help others
My experience had such a profound effect on me and my life that I always wanted to share that discovery and learning with other women and with graduates just starting out on their career. So I’ve taken the opportunity to set up “Impress for Success” to support women, regardless of their age or where they are in their career, to be the best version of themselves and to step into and embrace their real power.
The success framework and image consulting and coaching packages offered by Impress for Success are built on the core values of:
- Trust, and
If these resonate with you, I’d love to support you in your own transformation, helping you step up and stand up.
